Ancient Rome was conquered by barbarians after 400 years of civilization. Her demise led to a "Dark Age" that lasted a thousand years. What happened, and why it happened, should be of concern to all of us Americans....but far too many of us are ignorant of history.

The Roman Senate was corrupt, only seeking ways to increase their largess at the expense of their constituents. The Senators bought votes by giving bread to the poor. The ruling elite provided games in the Coliseum to placate the masses, feed their base desires, and bend them to their dictates. It is known that there were one hundred and some odd annual holidays for Rome's citizenry!

He (or nations) who does not know history is doomed to repeat it!
